Posh Spice Does It Best: Victoria Beckham Lip Tint Reviews

On Black Friday, I ordered one of the VIctoria Beckham lip tints, and then a week later… promptly ordered the other color. Considering I’m not going anywhere any time soon, and even when I do leave the house I’m always wearing a mask, the fact that I decided to spend $36 on a lip tint, not just once, but twice over speaks to how much I love these!

And I included them in my top 20 beauty favorites of 2020 post here!

Price & Availability

$36 for 5.7 ml via Net-A-Porter, Violet Grey, Cult Beauty, & Victoria Beckham

Packaging

These come in weighty, tourtoise packaging. I believe they’re plastic, but they feel expensive. I’ve tossed them into my makeup bag and haven’t had any of them scratched.

One minor annoyance is that the label which indicates the shade fell off the bottom of one of the lip tints. This isn’t anything major but if I’m paying for a luxury product, I expect the little details to be taken care of. As the little sticker fell off, I have no idea of knowing what shade this lip tint is as it’s not indicated anywhere else on the packaging. (Of course I know from memory, but if I didn’t this would be a nuisance.)

It has a doe fit applicator that’s just right— not too big, not too small, and holds the perfect amount of product.

Swatches/ Shades

Cherie is a sheer, deep, browinish red and Bisou is a sheer, deep, browinish purple.

Scent

It baaarely smells like alcohol, but only if you’re giving it a close sniff specifically looking for a scent to write about in your review. This is a big pro for me. I am so sick of expensive lip tints and glosses smelling like my sickly sweet, vanilla, lip gloss from 5th grade (looking at you, Pat Mcgrath.)

Review

Beautiiiiiiful. It’s really rare for me to find a truly sheer, darker lip color that doesn’t make me look dead. Most darker, sheer lip colors give me a ghoulish pallor and emphasize every line in my lips, even after I’ve scrubbed and prepped.

They’re incredibly lightweight and feel like nothing on my lips. They dry down about 90% of the way. Because it doesn’t go completely dry and matte, it has a comfortable, natural feeling and looking finish. There’s a slight sheen to it.

The first layer of either shade is a bit patchy, but after 2 layers it evens out. It’s also really easy to layer because of how lightweight it feels. You absolutely HAVE to prep your lips before doing this. If your lips are peeling or dry, this will settle into the cracks and look very patchy.

Compared to similarly priced lip tints from YSL and Dior, the Victoria Beckham lip tints are much sheerer. I can’t think of any dupes because I haven’t used any other dark, sheer lip products that feel like nothing and flatter my skin tone.

The wear time is also really impressive! I get a solid 6 hours wear out of this, even with eating and drinking. It wears well underneath a mask with minimal transfer. It leaves a tint behind on my lips as it fades. And is easy to reapply without feeling sticky or looking patchy.

If I had to pick only one shade, I would go with Cherie. I find the shade to be more flattering on my coloring and easier to re-apply. While I also enjoy Bisou, it’s a bit more finnicky to wear. If I accidentally apply too much, I get a random streak of pigment. In contrast, Cherie is more similar to my natural lip color so I can apply it haphazardly, and it pretty much evens itself out. Any error from sloppy application isn’t really visible unless you look realll close. When re-applying either shade, I don’t have to look at a mirror because it mostly smooths itself out with a few lip smacks.
