Masks of the Week #1 | Neogen Bubbling Mask, Llang Tea Tree Mask, & Bonvivant That Day Mask Review

And here I go again starting another series! In my defense, I think I've been pretty good with my series lately. My Dresser Diaries, Anti-haul, and Beauty in the City series have all started racking up posts and I hopefully (fingers crossed) have another WTF post coming up soon.

So I feel confident in saying I'm ready to kick off this new series!

I have about a bagillion sheet masks and wash off masks and peel off masks and any other type of mask you can think of. And in an effort to combat my hoarder tendencies, I decided to start this series so I've got an incentive to mask more!

I can't commit to actually doing this series every week, but hopefully, it can become a semi-frequent thing! If you've got any masks you think I need to try or would like to see me review, lemme know :)

This was my first time trying out a bubbling mask and it went more smoothly better than expected! When I first pulled out the mask from the pack, it was already foaming and was covered in white...stuff. I was a little confused about which side was supposed to go on my face, but I don't think it mattered too much since it foamed on both sides.

Fit? The fit of the mask was pretty nice although I wish the eye holes were a little bit wider. The bubbling foam of the mask did get in my eyes (thankfully it didn't hurt) and I ended up cutting the holes bigger.

On the flip side, the mouth hole was a little too big. I ended up folding it a bit to make it fit better around my mouth.

Material? The material of this mask was sorta thick and sooo soft. Like dreamy, fluffy clouds soft.

Scent? It has a very clean, citrusy scent.

Timing? I took the mask off after 15 minutes and was left with a whole lotta foam on my face. I treated it like a second cleanser and washed it off.

Effect? I'm pleasantly surprised to say this mask wasn't drying! It's probably not a mask I would use in the dead of winter when my skin is prone to peeling, but in the 80+ degree weather with high humidity, it suits my skin. My skin felt clean but not stripped and definitely looking brighter and smoother in the morning!

I also had a ton of foam left over on the mask and spread it out over both of my arms. It was a bit messy but my arms benefited from the scrub down as well.

LLang Tea Tree Organic Cotton Blossom Mask (PR gift from Skyn Box)

Whenever it's that time of the month or I have some sort of breakout, my first instinct is to reach for Sunday Riley's good genes and a tea tree sheet mask. And thankfully, there are a shitton out there for me to try.

Fit? The fit of this mask was just okay. It fit nicely around my eyes but I struggled to lay it flat around my nose. Also again, the mouth hole was too big. It also kept popping up around my chin and jaw area.

Material? The material was pretty nice and held a decent amount of essence. It didn't drip all over the place when pulled out of the pack. Because it's made from organic cotton, it's sparsely dotted with brown pulpy bits.

Scent? Hallelujah! This mask doesn't reek of the awful smell of tea tree! Instead, it has a light, herbally scent which I dig.

Timing? I wore this mask for around 15 minutes and it got pretty dry by the end.

Effect? The mask itself wasn't very moisturizing, but I find that to be the case for most tea tree sheet masks. After it dried down my skin felt a bit sticky but it didn't impede me from finishing up the rest of my routine.

Overall I found the mask to be very soothing and my zits were a bit smaller the next morning. I can't say if I would repurchase this because I get better results from the Leaders and Naisture tea tree sheet masks, buuuut I did enjoy using it.

Bonvivant That Time of the Month Brightening Mask
Available via who the fuck knows because who knows what's happening with Memebox You can now get this mask at Ulta! They've rebranded Bonvivant and they're now called "I Dew Care." You can't buy the mask individually but it is sold in the "Let's Get Sheet Faced" set. I believe this mask is now the That Day Mask Pack # Upallnight.
Ingredients: Hamamelis Virginiana (Witch Hazel) Extract, Water, Glycereth-26, Glycerin, Dipropylene, Glycol , Butylene Glycol, SD Alcohol 40-B, Phenoxyethanol, PEG-60 Hydrogenated Castor Oil, Trehalose , Bis-PEG-18 Methyl Ether Dimethyl Silane, PEG-240/HDI Copolymer Bis-Decyltetradeceth-20 Ether, Chlorphenesin, Hydroxyacetophenone, Acrylates/C10-30 Alkyl Acrylate Crosspolymer, Hydroxyethyl Acrylate/Sodium Acryloyldimethyl Taurate Copolymer , PEG-6 METHYL ETHER, Portulaca Oleracea Extract, Benzophenone-5, Potassium Hydroxide, Disodium EDTA, Citrus Paradisi (Grapefruit) Fruit Extract, Polysorbate 60, Sorbitan Isostearate, Punica Granatum Seed Oil, BHT, Malpighia Glabra (Acerola) Fruit Extract, Ethylhexylglycerin, Olea Europaea (Olive) Fruit Oil, Citrus Aurantium Bergamia (Bergamot) Fruit Oil, Citrus Limon (Lemon) Peel Oil, Citrus Grandis (Grapefruit) Peel Oil, Citrus Aurantium Dulcis (Orange) Oil, Litsea Cubeba Fruit Oil, Myrtus Communis Oil, Myristica Fragrans (Nutmeg), Kernel Oil, Elettaria Cardamomum Seed Oil, Eugenia Caryophyllus (Clove) Leaf Oil, Chamomilla Recutita (Matricaria) Flower Oil, Mentha Viridis (Spearmint) Leaf Oil, Zingiber Officinale (Ginger) Root Oil, CI 14700, Perfume

Fit? The fit was so good! The few other sheet masks I tried from Memebox's in-house brands fit awful so I was happy to find one that fits well.

Material? Pretty standard sheet mask material aka it was a soft sheet of cotton. It held the essence nicely and didn't drip when first applied. There was some leftover essence in the ampoule but not enough to warrant saving it to use the next day. Instead I patted it onto my decolletage area.

Scent? Oddly enough, this didn't smell like anything to me... even though it does have perfume listed all the way at the end of the ingredient list 🤔

Timing? I wore the mask for 20 minutes and didn't feel uncomfortable or dry when I took it off.

Effect? The mask felt nice... but wasn't really life changing. My skin wasn't brightened nor was it super moisturized. Then again with the current climate (hot & humid) I don't need a super moisturizing mask. It dried down quickly and left my skin a bit sticky. A few quick spritz of Saturday Skin's essence mist and I was ready to finish up my routine.

There wasn't anything extraordinary about this mask but then again, I don't think I expected there to be. The main appeal of Memebox's in-house masks were that they were cheap. I think it's one of the best mask I've tried that costs less than $1.
