over-grown toddler
romper + cardigan: urban outfitters, sandals: birkenstock
However many years that rompers have been popular, I've never bothered purchasing one. And my list for reasons why is never-ending. For a more comfortable and stylish look, a matching two piece ensemble would be a perfectly suitable alternative. Then for whatever reason I decided to purchase this romper. It's not the epitome of fashuun, but is it comfortable without being too heinous? Yes. Does it bare resemblance to toddler pajamas? An awkward school-mandated gym uniform? A retro men's bathing suit? Yes to all three. Paired with what some might call the ugliest of shoes, I was ready to conquer my morning classes. Even so, I admit to digging the whole ugly/lazy/whatever aesthetic.
So I'll just say I'm embracing my inner southern Californian with this lazy bohemian look. Now all I need is some green juice and gluten-free-vegan-no-sugar health food. JK, I don't think I could give up animal fries. Mmmm.
love your shoes

You definitely got the whole comfort aspect right on the target. I think there's a lot you can do with that romper, it's seems really versatile. Love the stocks of course!

Rompers seem so comfortable, but I'm always afraid of it not sitting right on me, so I don't even bother. You rock this one though, love it. :)

Ha, I love what you wrote about rompers! I was so set against them for a long time too, and then this past summer I purchased a plain black one and I really love it. It's easier to wear than I thought, which is weird because it's literally just one piece! Love the look!

Ahh I never got a romper myself because I don't think I can pull them off. I really like how yours looks on you though - maybe it's the color? You've definitely inspired me to give rompers another chance - especially in black! Love how you styled it with that awesome cardigan!

Love your cardigan! I'm always too afraid to wear rompers though because of my big butt haha.

In love with your cardi :)
ReplyDeletethose birkenstocks have definitely taken over your blog lately but at the same time I like it when bloggers show the same pieces worn differently. I think it's only normal that you don't show a new pair of shoes every single day. who even has so many shoes? anyway, when it comes to rompers then those are a big no-no in my book. I just don't dig them at all. but I love your cosy cardi!

Ah, I love rompers! I used to hate them only a few weeks ago but then I tried one on (after years of judgement and claiming they'd look awful on me blah blah) and, although I didn't buy it for its price, I just fell in love. The vibe of this outfit is so calm. I love it.

I have exactly one romper. But I think it's the most comfort you will have without resorting to pajamas :) Dang, I wanna try wearing Birkenstocks, just don't know if I'll look good in them hehe

lazy aesthetic is the best. i feel like i dress that way every day! but i've yet to find a nice jersey romper that suits my slightly-longer torso than most brands seem to cut for.
ReplyDeleteactually was just watching that vid of ellen page coming out and it in she comments on how a website ran an article with a picture of her wearing sweatpants on the way to the gym. And the writer asked, “why does this petite beauty insist upon dressing like a massive man?” page’s response: “because i like to be comfortable.” - so true!

Haha, yeah, I've never been really into rompers, but I love how they look on others. I guess I just haven't found the right one yet

ReplyDeletetruthfully, rompers are hit or miss. i've only bought ones that are a little bit more dressed up than normal (i have one from kate spade that looks like a dress and one with a sailor feel). they are my go-to and are completely glorious to throw on in the summer!
and hell to the yes for eating dinosaur/character shaped nuggets! pretty sure i will be eating those well into my 80s :D

ReplyDeleteHaha you always make me laugh. I can't give up on fries either! That romper looks great and I need to buy a pair of Birkenstocks too. I used to think these were the ugliest shoes ever but I changed my mind last year :)
